So classic FCP took almost 12 years to get to around 2 million seats while FCPX took about half that time at around 6 years to reach 2 million seats.

FCPX gained 500,000 (half a million!) seats in one year alone between 2017 and 2018.

FCP became very popular during the global pandemic with Apple having a trial version for 90 days.

In 2023, a guestimate is around 4 to 5 million FCP seats.
